Not to be missed in Peschiera
Sanctuary of the Madonna del Frassino
This beautiful and monumental church is made all the more evocative by the origin of its worship, according to which, on the 11th of May 1510, the Madonna appeared to a peasant among the branches of an ash tree. Since then, the small statuette of the Madonna and Child, just over 14 cm high, has towered over the original ash tree in the chapel dedicated to her.
Fortress
The fortress of Peschiera del Garda is a small, significant architectural jewel protected by an imposing pentagonal wall and adorned with beautiful ramparts and gates, such as the Tognon and Feltrin ramparts and the Porta Brescia. An UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2017, it unmistakably marks the profile of the town and offers romantic corners and evocative and exciting views.
Church of San Martino Vescovo and Roman excavations
Located in the heart of the historic centre of the town and overlooking the main square, it is one of the oldest churches in the diocese of Verona and stands right next to the site where the remnants of the Roman settlement were found, which can now be freely visited.
Palazzo Provveditore and Piazza San Marco
The palace, once the fulcrum of the power of the Venetian patricians appointed by the Republic of Venice, is located in the historic centre of the city, in the centre of Piazza San Marco and a short distance from the picturesque Canale di Mezzo.

Sirmione
Sirmione is one of the most beautiful and distinctive places on Lake Garda, a sort of floating island that is slightly detached from the rest of the mainland, overlooking the water.
Extremely evocative, the entrance to the town is a kind of drawbridge that insinuates itself as a passage between the high walls of the castle, attracting tourists to explore a picturesque old town dotted with shops and luxury establishments.

Not to be missed in Sirmione
1. Scaligero Castle
The fortress, built in 1278 by Mastino I della Scala on the remains of a Roman fortification, is one of the better preserved castles in Italy.
This is a truly majestic construction, one of the few lake fortresses in existence today that testifies to the remarkable architectural ability and military expertise of the Veronese during the 13th century.
Dovetail battlements distinguish the walls and the three main towers, a characteristic feature of Scaliger architecture. Behind the three towers stands the imposing 47-metre-high donjon. About a century later, two courtyards and an independent fortification were added to increase the fortress's defences.
Nowadays the castle surrounded on all four sides by the water of the lake, a feature that renders it like being in a fairy-tale, truly unique.
The visit of the mighty manor includes access to the courtyards through an internal portico and, beyond the drawbridge, the opportunity to climb the donjon and the patrol walkways by following a very long staircase of 146 steps.
From the top of the castle, the view of the dock and the lake is truly spectacular.
Grottoes of Catullus
Generally combined with a visit to the castle is that of the Grottoes of Catullus, which are the remains of an ancient Roman villa dating back to the first century BC.
The tour of the grottoes, with their charming arched windows overlooking the lake, is particularly captivating, and offers splendid views of Lake Garda and a real dive into history.
Jamaica Beach
A short distance from the Grottoes of Catullus, is one of the most beautiful beaches of Sirmione, Jamaica Beach, a small piece of paradise touched by crystalline waters.
To get there one has to cross the entire historic centre of Sirmione, then one can opt for the easiest way, which is to continue along the path that descends from the Grottoes of Catullus to the coast, or to have an alternative experience, use the more difficult road to Punta Staffalo.
