LAZISE, A TOWN WITH A RICH HISTORY
Lazise is located on the south-east coast of Lake Garda, in the province of Verona, and is only 1 km away from Camping La Quercia.
It is one of the major attractions at the lake, with thousands of visitors from all over the world coming every year.
Founded by the ancient Romans, the name derives from the Latin word Lasitium, and then Laceses, which means place at the lake. Later on, it enjoyed a very prosperous period during the Middle Ages, establishing itself as the first free municipality around Lake Garda and becoming one of the richest commercial centres in the area.
The most significant monuments are the Scaligero Castle, the church of San Nicolò and the Dogana Veneta, now used for conferences, important events and weddings.

WHAT TO DO
The historic centre of Lazise is full of quaint shops, fish restaurants, trattorias, bakeries and small souvenir shops. On Wednesday mornings, the weekly market takes place.
In the evening, many bars offer live music.
Not to be missed during August is the famous Festa dell'Ospite with the "Cuccagna del Cadenon", a pole covered with grease lying horizontally above the water in the port, the competitors have to slide on it to capture the flag placed at its end, without falling into the water.
During the month of October, Lazise hosts the famous Honey Festival.
Nearby are the famous amusement parks Gardaland, Movieland and CanevaWorld (tickets can be purchased at the campsite). The Safari Zoo "Parco Natura Viva" is about 3 km away and finally yet importantly, for those who are looking for wellness and relaxation, the Thermal Park Villa dei Cedri is only 2 km away.
